The Abbey Nursery

The Abbey Nursery is situated adjacent to the walled Kitchen Garden at Forde Abbey. You can visit the nursery, and adjoining gift shop, without having to purchase an admission ticket for the House or Garden.

We offer a seasonally-ever-changing selection of herbaceous perennials and grasses. Our range includes the rare or unusual, reliable garden stalwarts and recently introduced species and cultivars. We consider them all, first and foremost, to be good garden plants. Most of what we sell is produced on site and can be seen growing in display beds around the sales area or in the surrounding 30-acres of garden. Sales are backed up by friendly help and advice.

We aim to produce a wide range of good quality plants sold at reasonable prices. As a guide our standard 2 litre pot price is £3.90,
1 litre is £3.00 or £3.20 and 9cm is £2.50. Plants that are hard or
slow to propagate are priced accordingly.

As we are a small nursery many plants are only produced in small numbers. Therefore, we often sell out of more popular lines; if you are seeking a particular plant please telephone a few days in advance of coming to check availability.

If you are passing through, perhaps on a short-break in Devon or Cornwall, we are happy to look after purchased plants for up to two weeks for collection on your homeward journey.

We attend various Plant Shows, Rare Plant Fairs, etc. within the South and West of the UK and are happy to bring pre-ordered plants to these events.
